I need help! (registering/chip/papers) {{forumTopicSubject}}

Hey everyone! I just moved to Denmark a little over a month ago, and I'm looking to buy a horse of my own. The problem is, my budget is quite small, which leaves my options pretty much to horses without papers and/or passport and chip marking.

How do I register a horse in Denmark? Is it possible to even do that for an adult horse without any papers? And how much it costs?

Then there is the passport. I'm confused. If I get the passport, is the horse then registered, too? Or can it only be purchased for a registered horse? Again, the price?

Last but not least, how much does the chip marking cost?

Thank you so much for anyone who cares to answer! smiley

  • #1   7. jun 2009 Hey.

    I can try to answer you smiley

    You can buy a horse without any papers, but most of the horse have vaccinationscard.

    If you just want to start some small events (D-events) are all you need the vaccinationscard. If you want to start bigger events (C-events), you must have the passport.

    If you buy a horse with a passport, must you indicate "Landskontoret for heste" (the stateoffice for horses) so you can get a paper with your name as owner.

    You can also make a passport of a horse without pedigree, when it's green. There are different colours of passports fx are they red if the horse have full pedigree.

    I hope i could help you just a little, and I'm sorry for my english (;

    To register a horse in Denmark you have to contact Landskontoret for heste (the stateoffice for horses).
    http://www.lr.dk/applikationer/kate/viskategori.asp?ID=ka0040000700

    They are also the ones you have to contack if you want your horse to have a chip.

    About passports, ther is different sorts.
    The firste i a breeding book of sorts. In which is the bloodline of the horse is written, along with witch breeding associations the horse is under, if eny.

    The other one i a Competition pas. You will need that i you want yo start a Competition at a higer level.

    A pas is not a leageal Documentation to show owernership. Fore that you have to have a ownership certificate, withc you alsow get where you get your pas.

    I cant remember the price is for the pas ore the chip, but i think the ownership certificate costs about 500 dk.
    I think you must contact Landskontoret for heste and talk to them.

    I hope that helpt you a bit.
